Nutrition for the Skin

Skin Health: From a  Pro Makeup Artist's Perspective

Today, let's delve into a personally meaningful subject—the key to achieving healthy, radiant skin. I want to share insights on how adopting a considered approach to nutrition can be a game-changer for your skin. We're talking about the basics: whole foods, various colours on your plate, the goodness of mushrooms & collagen, and the importance of liver & kidney function.

Whole Foods: Fundamental for Skin Health

View your body as a canvas, where the food you consume is crucial in maintaining optimal health. Whole foods are the true heroes, contributing to a natural, radiant, firm glow that can heal fast and sit well on your muscles. Let go of processed options and focus on fresh fruits, veggies, whole grains, and lean proteins. Your skin will appreciate the upgrade.

Mushrooms: Nature's Nutrient-Rich Allies

Mushrooms are more than just a pizza topping—they're nature's nutritional powerhouses. Loaded with antioxidants, varieties like shiitake and reishi combat oxidative stress and aging. Reishi is great for calm and clear acne-prone skin. Incorporate them into your meals, smoothies or warm drinks. Your skin will thank you for the support. There's a mushroom for any concern - sleep, clarity, focus, anxiety - you name it - all of which will benefit your skin in the long run as your body is nourished and well rested.

Collagen: Supporting Skin Resilience

Collagen, the behind-the-scenes hero, acts as your skin's cheerleader. As we age, it may need a little nudge. Include collagen-rich foods such as bone broth, fish, and lean meats in your diet. High-quality collagen supplements can be a reliable ally for an extra boost, ensuring your skin maintains its bounce.

Colourful Foods: A Palette for Skin Wellness

Focus on embracing a variety of colours. In season fruits and veggies in every shade are your skin's superheroes, packed with vitamins and antioxidants. It's like creating a symphony of goodness for your skin. Listen to yuor body to learn what it loves the most - for me, my digestion doesn’t like alot of fruit ( and alot of other things that I don’t want to bore yu with) I notice almost immediatly how inflammed I am if i have fruit.. immedaitly bloated with the sexiest fluid rentention…Hot! Along with any sugar, raw foods are very hard to digest for me, so a large leafy salad with raw capsicum & cucumber, although healthy, just won’t sit well with me. I still have salad, I’ll manage my portions so to not overwhelm my digestion, if that makes sense.

Gut Health: The Core Connection

The gut-skin connection is where the real magic happens. A content gut equals happy skin. Incorporate probiotic-rich foods and fermented veggies into your diet, ensuring your skin receives efficient nutrient absorption.

Your skin is the most important element in healthy, radiant, flawless makeup, and mindful nutrition is the ultimate skincare.

Here's to looking as fabulous as you feel!
